Katie May Laumann
Katie May is the project manager for the Maryland Coatal Adaptation Report Card. She's a marine and environmental scientist working at the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, Integration and Application Network (IAN). At IAN, she leads efforts to develop Ecosystem Health Report Cards, and has work on Report Cards for Maryland's Coastal Bays, Bhitarkanika India, and the National Park Service. Before working at IAN, she earned a PhD in Marine Science from the College of WIlliam and Mary, and a Master's in Conservation Biology from Columbia University. She has also worked in natural resource management and education and outreach. Her favorite place in Maryland is Idlewilde, and her favorite food is oysters.
Annie Carew
Annie is a Science Communicator at IAN. She works to communicate science through ecosystem health report cards, written works, and social media. She also conducts data analysis for several projects. She earned her B.S. in Conservation Biology from Clemson University and her M.S. from UMCES, where she studied the effects of diversity on aquatic vegetation. She has also conducted research on salamanders and grasslands. She enjoys writing, and has written articles for the science magazine Tigra scientifica and for the National Parks Service. Her favorite place in Maryland is Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, and her favorite food is the Maryland Blue Crab.
